Detroit finally has a Cider Mill, and it’s Black Owned! Detroit residents no longer have to go across 8 mile to enjoy the cider mills. Located near the Lodge at Lawerence, and Woodrow Wilson street on a four acre plot where Peck Elementry once stood Detroit Farm And Cider is the first Cider Mill In the city of Detroit! This is a big win for local residents during this Pandemic.
“Owner Leandra King remembered her fondest times as a child going to the Cider Mill in Novi, MI which is 30 minutes away from Detroit, and wanted to recreate that in Detroit. The lot has 139 apple, cherry, pear and peach trees are the heart of the Detroit Farm and Cider.”
Leandra did more then Recreate she added Her own flavor, and unique touches to create the cider mill experience. In addition to the pumpkins, Hayrides, cider and doughnuts which due to the frost she couldn’t press her own cider she bought by Parmenters Cider Mills they have goats and a solar powered farm, fudge, bonfire, beehives , a rock wall tree, and a zip line! On Halloween they will host Dixon’s Violin who will perform in the farms greenhouse.
Discounts will be available to Detroit Public Schools students, EBT will be accepted for food and beverage items. Admission to the Farm is Free, and Hayrides is $3. The Cider Mill is open on Sunday’s from 1-7PM I though December 5th. Support Black Owned Businesses in our communities for more info:
