Retired Nurse Sonya Green is the owner of Linwood Fresh Market located at 12737 Linwood Detroit, MI opened Saturday March 18, 2023. The first sign you see is ” The Shift Plaza” and a shift Ms. Green has brought to the community. The store has fresh fruits, veterans, salads , and provides healthy options in a much needed area in Detroit.

Ms. Green a retired nurse has a family history of entrepreneurship her late uncle Elmer Fuller owned a barbershop in the Linwood and Dexter area for over 40 years and worked up until age 88, and passed away in 2016 at age 90. Green made a promise to Ms. Fuller when she bought the building that was to make them proud! Green has first hand saw the frustration of many people in the community who have to walk blocks and even miles to get fresh fruits, and vegetables.

The Market is 1,800 square feet Ms. Green is continuing the legacy of her uncle with “Elmer’s Barbershop, a three chair beauty salon, and four renovated apartments. Ms. Green also purchased a home next her building to create an non-Profit. Sonya Green is has breathed new life into the Linwood Dexter Area. If we had more diamonds in the rough like Ms. Green our communities would shine so bright!
